I decided when I was ten years old, ‘I wanna draw manga.’ I dove right in, sketching my favorite characters, teaching myself to draw. I regularly bought Shonen Jump, and recorded episodes of Bleach and Fullmetal Alchemist. At that time, there were only Action anime and Fantasy anime to me, so my style and stories had the aura of shonen manga.

The first four panel strip I read was Azumanga Daioh, by my favorite artist Kiyohiko Azuma, about six  girls going through high school and growing up together. The manga sparked my interest with both the laid back style and expressions, as well as the slack story line that really went no where. Lucky Star and K-On!, introduced to me by another otaku, inspired me to drag a close friend and an acquaintance into a manga club.

The Manga Club gives life the feeling of living in a four panel strip, so if we can make life that much fun when we work together, then we should be able to create a strip that all audiences will laugh at, manga fans or not.
